Generative AI thematic group
Welcome to the Generative AI Thematic Group section of our website. The Group (25 members total) is steered by a Core Team (9 members) responsible for strategic direction and managing Actions, supported by ad-hoc Action Teams to execute specific activities for the ARMA-NL community. Regular check-ins of the Action Teams with the Core Team ensures streamlined progress, and regular meetings of the entire Thematic Group ensures coordination and alignment with broader goals.
The Core team members are:
- Ryan Henderson (UMC Utrecht)
- Ayla Kruis (Utrecht University)
- Tse-Hsiang Chen (UMC Utrecht)
- Claudia Soede (Radboud UMC)
- Raymunde Neven (Maastricht University)
- Martina Chylkova (Universiteit van Amsterdam)
- Wim Nap (Rijksuniversiteit Groningen)
- Shruti Desai (Radboud University)
- Atma de Waal (HS Leiden)
We believe that GenAI will fundamentally transform the RMA profession. We aim to position all RMAs in the Netherlands at the forefront of this growing technology frontier. In this way, we empower the ARMA-NL community to actively shape the future of the RMA profession.
In 2025, the working group will focus on three core areas:
- RMAs & Ways of Working: Helping RMAs adapt to the changes AI brings to their roles while exploring opportunities for leadership and professional growth.
- Tools and Technology: Identifying and understanding the possibilities of GenAI, promoting responsible use, and sharing best practices.
- Policy Developments: Monitoring local, national, and international policy trends, contributing to ethical AI adoption, and fostering connections with relevant stakeholders.
We have prioritized the following community Actions:
- Mapping Community Needs and Ongoing Initiatives: Conduct a mapping study to identify the RMA community’s needs, gaps, and existing AI-related projects. This will provide a clear foundation for future activities and collaborations.
- Training Programs and Workshops: Deliver train-the-trainer sessions and workshops, training ARMA-NL members to understand and apply GenAI tools responsibly and effectively in their roles.
- Knowledge-Exchange Events: Organize events to facilitate the exchange of ideas, best practices, and expertise among RMAs.
- Additional Actions: Based on Working Group member input, we can prioritize and initiate additional Actions during the year. One initial idea is to apply for joint funding with other networks (e.g. the EARMA Thematic Group on AI).
By the end of 2025, the working group aims to:
- Use the outcomes of the year’s initiatives to develop a strategic roadmap for 2026–2028.
- Expand its influence nationally and internationally by strengthening partnerships and disseminating best practices across institutions.
