NIH Thematic group
Welcome to the NIH Thematic group section of our website. Please visit the Forum for questions and discussions about NIH.
The situation in the US has us all confused and concerned. Even more so our friends and collaborators in the US.
While we would like to offer our members clarity and assurances, this is not currently possible. How matters will develop in the US is currently very difficult to predict, and even US universities are reacting to the crisis in widely varying ways.
What we can do, is to provide you with the source documents, which can be found here on the NIH-workgroup webpage. Should more official documents be issued, we will add them to the overview.
While this uncertainty lasts, it is perhaps prudent to try to limit your US/NIH-based spending as much as possible, within the constraints of the projects that you are running. Setting up some contingency plans for each project should US/NIH funding be stopped or limited, never hurts. For those who wish specific suggestions, Thompson Grants has a fairly clear set of suggestions here: https://www.thompsongrants.com/editorial-commentary/what-does-a-potential-federal-funding-freeze-mean-for-grantees.
Hopefully, it will not take more than a few weeks before matters become more clear. In the meanwhile, should you receive any important information, please share it with the NIH-workgroup so that it can be added to the NIH-workgroup webpage.
Yours,
the ARMA-NL NIH-working group
